After hard work and a lot of determination, the youngest of our Ajax girls teams came home Champions from this year’s 2016 Cal Cup.
Coach Nick is proud that “the girls worked hard to win a large scale tournament, so early in the season.”  And is “excited to see what else this young team can accomplish this year.”This is the Ajax 08G Green teams first Championship win for the season and was no easy task for these girls. With the new birth year mandated regulations, there were only four returning Ajax players from last year and seven new players that were welcomed to the Ajax Club/Team.

The girls have worked very hard over the last few months and are starting to come together.  This weekend, they showed their footwork and passing abilities as well as a passion to play the game.  Our coaching staff is very happy with the development of this team.  The girls played three very tough teams to get to the finals and proved that hard work pays off.  This was their first championship since this team has formed.

Made finals and played Pajaro Valley who we lost to in the Ajax Tournament 3-0(We really wanted to play them in the finals for redemption). During final today we were tied 0-0 but we're definitely pushing for a goal. With 15 minutes left one of the Pajaro players stepped on the ball and flipped on her head, neck and Back very hard. She was unconscious then conscious and was numb and unable to move a few limbs. The fire and paramedics arrive and took her straight to the hospital.

During the wait for the emergency crews the Pajaro team was very emotional praying in a circle. I'm very please to see my girls went over and join them in prayer and support(great show of sportsmanship).

Myself seeing the emotional state of the Pajaro team and even my own with such a dramatic event I gave all options to the Pajaro coach. I felt that playing after that would no be in best interest for any of the girls as they all were crying and visibly upset but I let to coach know we will play, do a shootout or let them have the win. He and the tournament director suggested that we end the game and be Co-Champs. I made sure to give the 1st place trophy to the coach to make sure it gets to the hospital with the Injured player. He was very happy to hear that and wanted us to take the 1st place medals.

All and all a very emotional game, we wanted Pajaro so bad after the 3-0 loss in Modesto but with the unfolding events we see that the game can teach us much more than the win. I'm very proud of my girls for there growth as soccer players but most of all there maturity and humility today.

2003 Girls Green traveled to Arizona over the weekend to earn 2nd place at PDT. The 03 Girls Green played well in the finals but lost 1-0. Overall, the weekend was a success only having 12 girls made it difficult but the girls really stepped up. Girls battle crazy weather and injury with their keeper breaking her pinky in the first match only to finish the weekend. The 03s battled through the adversity to have a great weekend.
